Dann tropfe, schütte oder spritze ich Tinte ins Wasser, es entsteht ein ‚Gemälde in Bewegung‘, dessen einzelne Ausprägungen jeweils nur kurz weilen. Mit der Kamera halte ich verschiedene Stadien der zerlaufenden Tinte fotografisch fest und begleite das Motiv, ohne Stativ oder Kamera zu bewegen, bis Wasser und Tinte vollständig getrocknet sind. Dies dauert zwei bis vier Wochen. Das getrocknete Bild liefert ein anfangs nicht vorhersehbares Ergebnis, ein Bild aus Trocknungslinien und Staub, der während des Prozesses auf das Motiv gefallen ist. Schließlich stelle ich ein Bild des flüssigen Zustands dem getrockneten gegenüber und zeige beide invertiert, so dass alle Farben ins Komplementäre verkehrt und die Ebene des ‚während des Fotografierens Sichtbaren‘ verlassen wird.



liquid_liquid/liquid_solid is a series of diptychs, each showing the same motif in two different states: The camera is looking into a water-filled basin from atop. Then I drip, pour or squirt ink into the water: a ‚painting in movement‘ emerges. Each iteration only lasts briefly. With the help of the camera I photographically document different states of the spreading ink and continue to capture the motif changing without moving camera or tripod until all liquids have dried. This takes from two to four weeks. The image of the dry state is impossible to foresee at the start and includes drying lines and dust that has fallen onto the motif during the process. In a last step I combine one image of the liquid state with an image of the dry state and invert both of them, so that what has been seen while photographing is no longer visible.

Die Fotogramme interpretieren ein vom Madame Pompadour im 18.Jh bei François Boucher in Auf- trag gegebenes, vierteiliges Werk. Ähnlich einer Notiz ist auf vier in der Dunkelkammer gefilterten Farbhintergründen jeweils ein Stück der Darstellung einer Jahreszeit zu sehen. Der Rest bleibt auf- gerollt und erscheint als weiße Linie. Die analogen, in der Dunkelkammer mit Filtern hergestellten Farben orientieren sich an Vorstellungen von Lichtfarben und Erdtönen.

The photograms interpret a four-part work by François Boucher, commissioned by Madame Pompadour in the 18th century. Similar to a note, a part of the depiction of each season is visible on four colored backdrops that were filtered in the darkroom. The rest is rolled up and manifests as a white line. The analog colors were created in the dark- room with the help of filters and are influenced by imagined colors of light and earth tones.

Die Fotogramme nehmen Bezug auf die ihnen vorangegangen Arbeit river pebbles (horizontal split 1-∞) für die die Künstlerin aus dem Tertiär stammende Flusskiesel halbiert hat. Diese sich in ihrer Struktur entsprechenden halben Kiesel wurden abfotografiert und mit in der Dunkelkammer direkt auf das lichtempfindliche Papier aufbelichteten, verschiedenfarbigen Linien wieder verbunden.

The photograms reference an earlier work, river pebbles (horizontal split 1-∞), for which the artist cut river pebbles from the tertiary in halves. These pebble-halves with corresponding, mirrored structures were photographed and then reconnected with differently colored lines directly exposed (drawn) on the light sensitive paper.

Das Diptychon zeigt in Wasser zerlaufene Tinte, einmal nach wenigen Stunden im flüssigen Zustand&#38;nbsp;und einmal nach ungefähr zwei Wochen im fast&#38;nbsp;komplett getrockneten Zustand. Beide Bilder sind gemacht, ohne das Kamera oder Motiv bewegt&#38;nbsp;wurden und werden in ihrer farbigen Umkehrung als Negativ gezeigt.

The diptych shows dispersed ink in water, once after a few hours in a liquid state and once after about two weeks in an almost entirely dried state. Both images were taken without changing the position of the motiv or the camera and are shown as negatives with inverted colors.

Blaue Blätter ziehen in einer wandfüllenden Projektion horizontal durchs Bild. Gefilmt wurden sie im Herbst auf der Spree, die am Ateliergebäude der Künstlerin vorbeifließt. Hier werden sie in invertierter Form gezeigt. Bei genauem Betrachten ist die ständige Bewegung durch stillstehende Punkte unterbrochen: den Hintergrund der Projektion bilden halbierte in die Wand eingelassene Flusskiesel, die für von Bewegung geformten Stillstand stehen.

In a wall-sized projection, blue leaves float horizontally through the image. They were filmed in autumn on the river Spree, that floats by the artist’s studio. Here, they are shown in inverted form. At closer inspection, the constant flow is interrupted by still standing points: the background of the projection is formed by river pebbles halves that are implanted in the wall, representing standstill formed by movement.

Ein Amberbaumblatt ist hinter einer Glasvase platziert. Zwischen dem ersten und dem&#38;nbsp;zweiten Bild wird die Kameraperspektive minimal verändert. Gleichzeitig ändert sich die Farbe des Untergrundes von Grün (wie dem Blatt) zu Blau (wie dem Hintergrund), als ob die Perspektivänderung auch gleich das Umfeld beeinflusste.

An amber tree leaf is placed behind a glass vase. The perspective of the camera shifts slightly between the first and the second image. Simultaneously the color of the ground changes from green (like the leaf) to blue (like the ground), as if the shift of perspective also caused to change the surrounding.

Flusskiesel aus dem Tertiär wurden halbiert und mit der geschliffenen Schnittfläche nach vorne einander gegenüberliegend wie Intarsien in die Wand implantiert. Durch die gespiegelten Positionen und die sich entsprechende Größe und Steinmaserung der Kiesel, bleibt die Verbindung der ehemals verbundenen Stücke ‘durch den Raum’ bestehen. Die Kiesel sind&#38;nbsp;– ähnlich einer planetaren Konstellation – über die Wand verteilt installiert. Während der Himmel in sky piece den Boden bedeckt, besetzen die Steine die obere Hälfte des Raumes.

River pebbles from the tertiary have been cut in halves, implanted into the wall on opposite sides with the cut and sanded surface facing outward, just like marquetry. Through the mirrored positions and the corresponding size and structure of the stones, the connection between the formerly connected pieces stays strong ‘across the space’. The pebbles are installed in a loose pattern, similar to a planetary constellation. And while the sky in sky piece is presented on the floor, the stones occupy the upper half of the space.

Vor einem Hintergrund aus Fotografien einer Steinplatte und eines Himmelsausschnittes, wird ein Kieselstein visuell zerteilt und wieder zusammengefügt. Der Kiesel rückt in scheinbar logischer Folge hinter einer wassergefüllten Vase hin- und her, wie der Blick zwischen den Bildern.

With a backdrop of photographs of a stone plate and a piece of the sky, a pebble is visually cut in two and then reunited. The pebble moves behind a water-filled vase in seemingly logical steps, just as the gaze jumps back and forth between the images.

Die Arbeit bezieht sich auf das zwei Jahre vorher entstandene Diptychon sidewalk fossil (brooklyn), für welches ein zufällig in einer New Yorker Gehwegplatte entdeckter Blattabdruck fotografiert und weiter bearbeitet wurde. Hier ist ein Blattabdruck mitten auf der Galeriewand zu sehen.

This work references the diptych sidewalk fossil (brooklyn), photographed two years prior, showing an accidentally discovered leaf imprint on a New York sideway that was further modified by the artist. This leaf imprint is placed in the middle of a gallery wall.

Aus dem Atelierfenster der Künstlerin gefilmte, ziehende Wolken werden auf die dunkle, im Erdgeschoss befindliche Wand projiziert, die aus hauptsächlich grünen Glasstückchen besteht und fester Bestandteil der Galerieräume ist. Die Wand wird Träger des Bewegtbildes und ihre Materialität durch das Glitzern einzelner Glassteinchen hervorgehoben. Der Himmel zieht ins Erdgeschoss des Gebäudes, wo er normalerweise unsichtbar ist.

Passing clouds, filmed from the artists studio win- dow are projected onto the dark gallery wall that is part of the architecture and consists of small, mostly green pieces of glass. The wall becomes projection surface for this moving image and its materiality is heightened through the breaking of light in singular pieces of glass. The sky is imported to the building’s ground floor where it is normally invisible.

desktop horizon untersucht eine Konvention der Fotografie. Zwei Aufnahmen von Sonnenuntergängen - einem Motiv, das das Verlangen nach dem Festhalten mittels der Fotografie und gleichzeitig ihr Unvermögen dies zu tun, exemplarisch darstellt - werden seziert und in einzelne Farbtöne zerlegt. Diese Farbtöne wurden von der Künstlerin mithilfe von Farbfiltern in der Dunkelkammer einzeln über ein anderes Motiv gelegt: eine Fotografie ihres Ateliertisches. Der Tisch wurde fotografiert als gerade ein Sonnenstrahl darauf fiel und das abstrahlende Licht an der dahinter liegenden Wand an ein Naturphänomen erinnert: die Tischplatte als Ort, an dem eine Idee oder eine Projektion in die Weite entstehen kann.

desktop horizon examines another photographic convention. Two photographs of sunsets - a motif that exemplifies the longing to preserve with the means of photography and simultaneously shows its inability to do so - are dissected into the different colors present in the images. These color hues were then filtered on a different motif in the darkroom: a photograph of the artist’s desk. The desk was photographed when hit by a beam of sunlight reflecting back on the wall behind it, therefore baring resemblance to a natural phenomenon. The desktop as a place where an idea or a projection can begin.

Grundlage der speziell für die Ausstellung entwickelten Installation ist eine Aufnahme des Himmels über Dresden. Wenn man den Raum betritt, sieht man zunächst Ausschnitte des Bildes in verschiedenen Helligkeitsstufen. Gleich einer fotografischen Belichtungsreihe lehnen sie an den Pfeilern, die den Raum mittig durchziehen. An der zentralen Wand gegenüber des Eingangs ist das Motiv dann in Gänze zu sehen - als fotografisches Negativ. Links und rechts der Eingangstür zeigen Streifen das Positiv. Positiv und Negativ sind räumlich so gesetzt, dass die Umkehrung physisch und mit einer Drehung&#38;nbsp;um 180 Grad gleichgesetzt wird. Die Übersetzung von Belichtungszeit in Helligkeitsstufen findet ihr Äquivalent in der räumlichen Distanz zwischen den Pfeilern.

The installation was specifically made for the exhibition and is based on a photograph of the sky above Dresden. When entering the room, one first sees excerpts of the image in different shades of brightness. They are leaning against the pillars dividing the space along its middle: like a series of exposures typically used in test stripes. On the central wall facing the entry the entire motif becomes visible as a photographic negative. The stripes to the left and the right side of the entrance door are showing the positive. Positive and negative are displayed in such a way that the inversion becomes physical - being equaled by a 180° turn. The shades of brightness find its spatial equivalent in the distance between the pillars.

Das Video zeigt schwarze Tinte, die sich über einen Zeitraum von 20 Minuten in Wasser verteilt in der Originalgeschwindigkeit. Am Anfang ist viel und gegen Ende kaum Bewegung zu erkennen.The video shows black ink spreading in water over the course of 20 minutes in original time. In the beginning, the movement is fast, towards the end, there is barely any movement visible.

In studio sky (checkerboard clouds) ist eine modifizierte Version einer Fotografie des Himmels aus meinem Atelierfenster direkt auf die Wand aufgezogen. Positiv und Negativ desselben Bildes wurden übereinander gelegt, um eine Verschiebung / einen Schatten zu erzeugen. Das Bild wird auf dem Kopf stehend präsentiert, als Verweis an den Blick durch eine Großformatkamera.

studio sky (checkerboard clouds), a modified version of an image of the sky, taken from my studio, is mounted directly to the wall. Positive and nega-tive of the same image are superimposed to create a ‘décalage’ or a shadow. The image is presented upside down like the view through a large format camera.

sidewalk fossil beruht auf einem gefundenen Motiv aus Brooklyn, New York. Zwei modifizierte Versionen desselben Bildes zeigen je den Abdruck eines Lindenblatts in der Zementoberfläche einer Gehwegplatte neben einem tatsächlichen Lindenblatt. Um den zeitlichen Unterschied zwischen dem gerade vom Baum gefallenen Blatt und der ,fossilisierten’ Version hervorzuheben, wurde pro Bild je eines der Blätter mithilfe einer Schablone in der Dunkelkammer nachbelichtet. Beide basieren auf einem in der Farbdunkelkammer geprinteten Schwarz-Weiß-Negativ.


sidewalk fossil is based on a found situation from Brooklyn, New York. It consists of two modified versions of the same image, each showing a Linden tree leaf imprinted in the cement of the sidewalk next to an actual leaf. To emphasize the difference in time between the leaf that has just fallen off the tree and the one that has been ‘fossilized’ at an unknown moment in the past, I burned one of the leaves in the developing process using a stencil in the darkroom. Both prints are color prints, made from a black and white negative.

anti-gravity pebble besteht aus einem grauen Kieselstein, der halbiert wurde. Die eine Hälfte des Steins wird auf dem Boden und die andere an der Decke gezeigt. Der angedeutete Fall zwischen den beiden Steinhälften wird auf der anderen Seite der freistehenden Wand in monument for a second (splash) wieder aufgenommen: einem Polaroid, das den Fall eines Steins in Wasser zeigt.

anti-gravity pebble, a gray pebble cut through its middle is presented as one half balancing on the floor and the other ‘balancing on the ceiling’. The suggested fall in the piece is referenced in monument for a second (splash) on the back side of the free-standing wall: a Polaroid depicting the fall of a stone in water.

Die Serie developing horizon zeigt den Entwicklungsprozess eines Polaroids. Die Zeitspanne vom ersten bis zum letzten Bild beträgt etwa 45 Minuten.

The series developing horizon shows the gradual development of photo emulsion in a Polaroid. The documented time span, first to last image, is about 45 minutes.

So werden die kurzlebigen Strukturen der Tinte mit den seit langem erhärteten Strukturen der Steine verwebt: aktuelle und geologische Zeit werden fotografisch auf eine Ebene gebracht.

melting time: Die siebenteilige Serie dokumentiert den Schmelzprozess einer Eisskulptur in einer Fotoentwicklerschale. Die Skulptur besteht aus einem Zifferblatt aus schwarzer Tinte, welches von gefrorenem Wasser eingeschlossen ist. Immer wenn eine signifikante visuelle Veränderung eingetreten ist, wurde ein Bild gemacht. Zwischen dem ersten und dem sechsten Bild liegen ungefähr acht Stunden, zwischen dem vorletzten und dem letzten Bild eine ganze Nacht. Insgesamt erstreckt sich die Serie über circa 24 Stunden.

The seven part series melting time documents the melting process of an ice sculpture in a developing tray. The sculpture depicts a time piece made from black ink, surrounded by frozen water. Whenever a significant visual change occurred, a photograph was taken. Image one to six show about eight hours. Between image six and seven lies another night. The entire work spans about 24 hours.

Die Bodenarbeit zeigt eine Fotografie des Himmels in einer Schachbrettanordnung (die Hälfte der Felder bleiben leer). Dabei spielt sie mit dem Gegensatz zwischen dem flüchtigen Bildinhalt und der Schwere des Materials Beton einerseits und dem Abbild organischer Formen in einem geometrischen Muster andererseits. 

The floor piece shows a photograph of the sky in a checkerboard pattern (with half the fields empty). It plays with the antagonism of an ephemeral image content on such heavy material as concrete on the one hand, and with an organic shape contained in a geometrical grid on the other hand.

Das Motiv ist das Negativ eines tagsüber gemachten Fotos der Sonne. Die Nacht könnte das Negativ des Tages sein.In dem dazugehörigen Heftchen sieht man die Verwandlung vom Positiv zum Negativ (siehe nächste zwei Seiten). 

The gallery has been turned into a lightbox. The negative of a sun photograph taken during the day is displayed nightly, a black sun shining at night. The night could be the negative of the day. The booklet shows the photographic transformation from positive to negative (see the next two pages).

photochromic sun, 2017, Jalousien, beschichtet mit photochromem Pigment (blau &#38;amp; gelb, reversibel) / Venetian blinds, tinted with photochromic pigments (reversible yellow &#38;amp; blue), je / each: 195 x 100 cm
Die Jalousien in diesem Raum wurden mit reversiblen fotochromen Pigmenten beschichtet. Dies sind Pigmente, die unter der Einwirkung von UV-Licht eine Farbe annehmen und bei Ende des Lichteinfalls wieder transparent werden. In Anlehnung an die in der analogen Fotografie präsenten Farben des Lichts ist eine Jalousie in zartem Gelb und die andere in zartem Blau beschichtet. Durch den komplementären Lichteinfall entsteht eine neue Lichtsituation.

A layer of reversible photochromic pigments has been added to the Venetian blinds in this room, so that one of the blinds gets a yellow tint when sunlight is hitting its surface. The other one gets a blue tint. The complementary colors create a new light situation in the room. This work is invisible whitout sunlight.

Protagonist der Serie ist ein zum Messen von Farbtemperaturen entwickelter Belichtungs-messer aus den 1950er Jahren. Während der Körper des Belichtungsmessers in allen Bildern die gleiche Position einnimmt, windet sich seine Kette in unterschiedlichen Positionen. Es handelt sich um in der Farbdunkelkammer eingefärbte schwarz-weiß Fotografien, die in Abstufungen einen Verlauf von Gelb nach Blau darstellen.

The six-part series corresponds with the light that is created by the photochromic blinds in the same room. The motif of the series is a photographic light-meter, designed in the 1950 to measure light-color. While the meter’s body stays in the same position throughout the six images, its chain is changing position in every image. The black and white photographs were printed in the color darkroom, representing a gradient from yellow to blue.

Der im Fotolabor neutral gefilterte Lichtkegel einer Lampe führt zu einem blauen Bild (da das fotografierte Kunstlicht gelb ist). Dadurch wird die Divergenz zwischen der wahrgenommenen und der gemessenen Lichttemperatur sichtbar.

The light of the lamp in the image is filtered neutral in the darkroom printing process. And since artificial light is yellow, ‘neutral’ leads to a blue image. The photograph refers to the difference between perceived and actual light temperature.

Ein Sekundenzeiger in Armbanduhrgröße (19mm lang und &#38;lt;1mm breit) tickt auf einer Wand. Das Uhrwerk ist hinter der Wand installiert und unsichtbar. Aufgrund seiner Größe kann das Ticken der Zeit leicht übersehen werden.

A second hand in wrist watch size&#38;nbsp; (19mm in length and &#38;lt;1mm in width) is ticking on a wall. The clockwork is implanted in the wall and invisible. The implant can easily be overlooked due to it’s size.

Die Temperatur von Sonnenlicht empfinden wir als warm und freundlich, doch die physikalische Messung der Lichttemperatur (5500 Kelvin) zeigt: es ist es blau / kalt. Das Diptychon zeigt eine Umkehrung dieser Wahrnehmung: eine blaue Sonne und einen gelben Himmel. &#38;nbsp;

The temperature of sunlight is perceived as warm and friendly, but the measurement of its light temperature (5500 Kelvin) shows the opposite: it is blue / cold. The diptych shows an inversion of this perception: a blue sun and a yellow sky.

Ein Print eines Lichtverlaufs (eine Fotografie des Himmels ohne Horizont, gemacht aus meinem Atelierfenster) überspannt die Breite der zentralen Wand des Ausstellungsraumes. Der untere Teil der Wand wurde weiter vorne im Raum nachgebaut und mit dem zweiten Teil des Bildes bespielt, so dass eine Schleusensituation entsteht: der Betrachter muss ‘durch das Bild laufen’ um in den hinteren Ausstellungsraum zu gelangen.

An image of a light gradient (a photograph of the sky, taken from my studio window) stretches over the width of the central wall in the gallery space. The lower part of the wall has been rebuilt in front of the original and carries the second part of the photograph, so that the viewer has to walk ‘through the image’ in order to get to the second room of the gallery.

Eine polierte Edelstahlkugel - in der sich der komplette Raum spiegelt - balanciert auf einem Tischbock. Letzerer ist in klassischer Fotostudiomanier vor einem (händisch in der Dunkelkammer hergestellten) Hintergrund mit Farbverlauf aufgestellt. 

A polished stainless steel ball is balancing on top of a saw horse. The entire room is mirrored in the balls’ surface. The saw horse is set up in front of a gradient back drop, in classical studio photography fashion. The gradient is hand-printed in the darkroom.

Da nur die Rückseite der eingezogenen Wand bespielt ist, wird der Weg, den ein Betrachter zurücklegt, künstlich verlängert. In der dem Eingang näheren hinteren Kammer hängen ein belichtetes und ein unbelichtetes analoges Fotopapier (100% und 0% Licht) so gegenüber, dass sie sich gegenseitig spiegeln. In der zweiten hinteren Kammer auf der anderen Seite wird eine&#38;nbsp; direkt auf die Wand aufgezogeneVergrößerung einer Zwischenstufe von 0% und 100 % Licht gezeigt. Dafür wurde ein belichtetes Fotopapier in den Entwickler gelegt und beim ersten Anzeichen der Verfärbung wieder herausgenommen. Die dabei entstandenen Strukturen sind keine Fotografie, sondern&#38;nbsp; ein direktes Abbild der flüssigen Chemie, ein zufälliges Ergebnis zwischen Schwarz und Weiß.

The built-in wall diagonally splits each half of the u-shaped space. As only the back side of this new wall is used for display, the viewer’s path through the space is artificially prolonged. In the first newly built space on the back side an exposed and an unexposed analog photographic paper (100% and 0% light) are facing and mirroring each other. The second space on the opposite side shows an enlarged excerpt from an exposed photo-paper that has been taken from the developer when showing first signs of darkening. Nothing has been photographed, the structure has solely been created by the liquid photochemistry. The result is a chance state of a grayscale, an in-between of the black and white displayed on the first side.

Entgegen der normalen ‘Richtung des Fotografierens’, dem Blick durch die Linse in die Landschaft, schaut man hier in die Linse in eine kleine ‘Landschaft’: eine Spiegelung meines New Yorker Atelierfensters, die ihre Farbigkeit durch den Schliff und die Qualität der Objektivgläser erhält.

Die Funktion von Licht unterlaufend, wurde hier ein von einer Fotolampe hell erleuchteter Raum durch Experimente mit der Belichtungszeit ‘dunkel fotografiert’. Am Ende ist nur noch die Unterseite des Reflektorschirms der Lampe zu sehen.

Undermining the function of light in photography, a space brightly lit by a photo lamp has been ‘photographed dark’ through experiments with the exposure time. The space disappears entirely and only the bottom side of the lamp’s reflector umbrella stays visible.

Ein in der räumlichem Diagonale geteilter Quader ergibt zwei Teile. Einmal schwarz und einmal weiß pigmentiert werden die Teile hier getrennt präsentiert und können vom Betrachter gedanklich wieder zusammengesetzt werden.

A cuboid is split in two parts along its spatial diagonal. The two resulting pieces are presented separately, one of them black and the other one white. Like two pieces of a puzzle, they can be put together again in the viewer’s head.

Die blaue Farbe des Bildes ist durch Filter im Farbfotolabor hergestellt und imitiert die Farbe des New Yorker Himmels zur Blauen Stunde. Das Foto ist während der Dämmerung entstanden, da die Nägel in der Atelierwand das letzte Tageslicht dann so stark reflektieren, dass sie scheinbar glühen. Die Nägel sind Platzhalter für mögliche Bilder und gleichzeitig selbst Bild.

The blue color of the print has been artificially created through filters in the darkroom in reference to the color of&#38;nbsp; the New York sky in the hour of dusk. Just before darkness is also the time when the photograph of the two nails on the (white) studio wall has been taken, as they were seemingly glowing while reflecting the last day-light. The nails are placeholders for possible images while being the image themselves.

Die Fotografie zeigt eine Reflektion des Ateliers in einer Aluminiumplatte. Wie im Titel beschrieben werden charakteristische Elemente des Raumes abstrahiert als Farbspektrum abgebildet. Bei naher Betrachtung ist die Materialität des Fotografierten anhand von Kratzern im Metall erkennbar. Zur Präsentation ist die Fotografie wiederum auf eine Aluminiumplatte aufgezogen, so dass das Ausgangsmaterial zugleich Endträgermaterial ist.

The photograph shows a reflection of the studio in an aluminum plate. As described in the title the different colors of the gradient abstractly represent the characteristics of the space (such as trees and sky outside the windows and furniture and tools inside). At proximity the materiality of the photographed becomes recognisable through scratches visible in the metal’s surface. Finally, the photograph is mounted on aluminum to be displayed, so that the source material is also the carrier in the end.

Die Ausstellung ist in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Musiker und Komponisten Adam Cuthbért entstanden. Auszüge aus einem Emailaustasch zwischen den Künstlern sind die Grundlage der zentralen Wandarbeit. Jedem dieser Sätze, die beide künstlerische Positionen beschreiben, wurde eine visuelle und eine Audioarbeit zugeordnet.

The exhibition is a collaboration with composer Adam Cuthbért. Excerpts from an email exchange between the artists form the heart of the show and are presented as a wall-piece. There is a visual and an audio work relating to each of the walltext sentences.

In einer Raumecke fotografierte Ellipsen erscheinen durch die Objektivverzerrung als Punkte und kreieren einen ‘fiktionalen Raum’. Das Bild ist zweimal, gespiegelt und s/w und farbig neben einem gepunkteten Würfel präsentiert.

Elliptical shapes in the corner of a room are photographed and appear as dots through the distortion of the camera’s lens. The image establishes a space that is ‘fictional’. The photograph is presented twice, once mirrored and in grayscale and once in color, with a dotted die next to it.

Auf Aluminium aufgezogene Fotografien, die 16 Sekunden der Oberfläche des Hudson River zeigen sind zu einer Skulptur zusammengefügt, die sich formal an die fließende Bewegung des Wassers anlehnt. Auf der Rückseite spiegelt sich der Raum in der Oberfläche des gebürsteten Aluminiums.

Pictures of 16 seconds of the water surface of the Hudson River have been mounted on aluminum and were joined in a flexible structure referencing the water’s movement.
